2009 World Team Event- Lake Placid, New York

So, the final day of racing for the women's 2-man race was this morning and the Canadian ladies picked up 4th, 5th and 11th places finishes.  The brisk weather here in Lake Placid made the race conditions perfect for fast pushes and competitive runs.  The ladies from Great Britain we the surprise winners of the 2009 World Championships!!!!

Tomorrow is the team event, where one Canadian men's 2-man bob-team, one women's 2-man bob-team, one female skeleton athlete and one male skeleton athlete all compete TOGETHER!!!!  the times are combine and the nation with the fastest time WIN!! We have a great chance of winning a medal tomorrow and we are hoping for GOLD!!

This will be my 1st team event and Im excited to be pushing out Canada 1 pilot Miss Helen Upperton!! I'll keep you all posted on how things go!!!! GO CANADA!!

"T" for TEAM!!!

It's so amazing to me that in my 18+ years as an athlete there was a key lesson that I failed to learn, until the last 2 weeks. That lesson was how to be an excellent teammate.    

My tendency to want to individually successful oftentimes has over shadowed the beauty of truly being a ray of light to those around me.  My amazing teammates have shown me what it is to give and receive support and to really be a member of a team.  

Ironically, I will not be competing in the World Championship event over the course of the next 2 days, but I will likely be competing in the International Team Event on Sunday (more details soon).  Although I am disappointed that I will not be racing and vying for the coveted position of 2008-2009 World Champion, I know that my time is coming.

I am in amazing shape and ready...mentally, emotionally and physically for whatever is on the way!!  I will keep you posted!!!
